A good tip is to go for red flowers as these are always instantly attractive.

Having said all that, you’re reception furniture at the moment might be beyond repair and no amount of flowers will make a difference. A little bit of fraying upholstery won’t be a massive issue and it means you save money by not having to buy completely new reception furniture.
